She could taste the salt on her tongue as she stood atop a cliff overlooking the sea. The wind whipped her hair around her head and played chase games with her curls. This was the last time she would see these waves crash upon this shore and tears leaked from the corner of her eyes. She'd lived on this cliff all her life, but without her mother, she needn't stay any longer.

The woman had been her only joy. She was the town healer and loved by all, so when the healer needed healing everyone had pitched in and had done their part. Sweets and breads and fresh game had been brought. Young lads had offered their services around their cottage on odd jobs and daily chores so she was free to focus on her mother.
