It was too quiet, she knew it was too quiet, but she couldn't escape the silence every time the floor squeaked, or a neighbor drove by. Rachel tensed. "What if he doesn't like me?" She said to the empty room. She shook her head and the self-doubt along with it. "No, stop that. Everything will be all right."
She stood and crossed to the window to look out. The sleepy suburban street was lined with blossoming trees and birds dove and chittered with each other. Across the street, A little blue house with a white painted fence stood in the shadow of an old oak tree. Her sweet neighbor Lilith was out in the garden, up to her elbows and vines and daisies. Rachel waved and retreated from the window, crossing the modern sitting room and plopping back on the couch.
