I will never forget the day they came back. The sky went dark, and the wind went wild. I remember looking up into the heavens and the sun disappearing behind something large and unknown. The sky rumbled, and the buzz of electricity left the smell of sulfur in the air.
We were on the street when people appeared before us. They were taller than we were, beautiful, and friendly. Atlantians they called themselves. As in the lost city of Atlantis, only it wasn’t ever lost, it left.
Thousands of years before, the Atlantians had helped humanity thrive, but they were a fickle people. They grew tired of Earth and set off for the stars, eager to see other races and technology. But they returned to Earth, weary and even more advanced than when they left.
