“Mary, pass the potatoes please.” A short, plump woman asked, her hand upturned and hovered over the table waiting.

A thin, pimply red head used two hands to lift the large plastic bowl and give it to her mother. “She just stood there Mom. She didn’t even look at me.”

“Thank you, dear” the older woman plopped a large helping of sticky potatoes onto her plate, “how did you do on your physics test?”

The teenager rolled her eyes and shoved a piece of asparagus into her mouth, “Fine.”

“Close your mouth when you chew Mary.”

Mary chomped louder and faster in retaliation, “you’re not even listening to me,” she spoke through her food.
