Amy stood in a field, flowers circled her ankles, and birds chirped above her. Marc was down on one knee in front of her, a black ring box in his hands, a dark sapphire gem glittering in the sunlight. She wasn't sure when she stopped breathing or when Marc had started talking again.
Snapped from her thoughts, Amy nodded, “Absolutely!” She jumped at him, wrapping her arms around his neck and nearly choking him in the process. When she finally pulled away, her eyes were overflowing with tears, and Marc’s grin was from ear to ear.
“It took you long enough,” he teased, “I was worried there for a second.”
