Mary Sue frowned, the wrinkles on her brow increasing exponentially, "Caroline…"
"Now now, that old coot loves you, and you know that. If he needs to take some pills and do some tests so he can come home to you, then he'll do it. He would never leave you alone if he could help it." Caroline held on to her best friend's weak hand before Mary Sue turned to look out the high-rise window.
"But what did he ever do?" Mary Sue whispered to no one. Of course, Caroline had to answer her, and that made her smile.
"The old man let himself go. He got comfortable with life and instead of living it, he let it run him, but...
