Light bulbs flash, they sting my eyes and the people’s shouts hurt my ears. Dad tucks me tighter under his arm as we rush from the taxi to the sidewalk. There are hundreds of people between us and our front door, the thought of getting passed them turning my stomach.
Someone grabs my ponytail roughly, "Lily! What do you have to say in defense of your mother!"
