what kills the pain?
what calms despair and
soothes the soul?
no such balm
exists, no miraculous
easement for grief
no other choice but
to slog tiredly
through the mire and hope
to not drown or maybe
yes to drown
to finally be done, but
i don't want to die
not really
i just want
the pain
to stop
