i have died for beauty's sake
she lured me with a poem
though it may break
a heart can't ache
if it's been turned to stone
i have heard the siren's wail

the moonlight pale
a scrape of scale
and so my will was flown
i have seen desire's lie
base lust was all i'd known
but when she sighed
her steady eyes
sent tremors to my bones
i have lived for beauty's grace
abandoning my home
she tired of chase
concealed her face
and i have died alone
