peace, for me
wasn't stealing his silence
his serenity
it was taking the chaos
of his cruelty and letting it
rage until it broke
forced into calmness by
acceptance
assimilation into what was me
peace, for me
wasn't the echo
of my shattering, but the
deep breath and small smile
of finally forgiving
myself
