i'm good at keeping
secrets from the world
you should see them
quietly hiding in my head
lurking just beneath
my consciousness
some days i even forget
they are there
woven into my psyche
like the spreading stain
of a bruise
they've been there so long
they've become familiar
normal
and the thought of
their absence is unsettling
so i keep them
close
even when they're
not mine
