They talked through the wall

The girl in the apartment

Across his apartment way

It happened completely accident one day

When he stubbed his toes on the bathroom sink

And he heard a reply

Of the most beautiful voices he had ever heard

“are you okay over there”

which followed by a laugh

he told her of course he was

and apologized for being so loud

she told it was fine

that she was unwinding from her day

relaxing in the tub

which he was about to do

he told her to have a good night

and she agreed

a few nights later

he coughed loudly

and heard her though the vent yet again
