For a long time I always believed that honesty was the best way to go through life. I was taught honestly at home, in church and at school.
“Honesty is the best policy!”
“The truth shall set you free!”
These are common phrases in our society. I can’t really say that I disagree with them. But what happens when your truth hurts? What happens when your truth makes others uncomfortable? What happens when your truth ends relationships?
I certainly didn’t know how to handle any of this. Nothing really prepared me for this. It wasn’t taught in school or church. I didn’t know what to do, so I lied.
