If I’m being completely honest the term, “parenting” is one that kind of scares the crap out of me. I tend to believe that parenting is a fairly new concept. For instance my parents were probably subjected to forms of parenting advice when I was growing up, but I highly doubt that my grandparents were given much advice on parenting.

This analysis makes sense because “parenting” used to be a lot more primitive. It used to involve keeping your child safe from deadly disease, surviving a cold winter, and having enough food to live and grow. In an affluent country like the United States of America, most of these needs seem to be taken for granted now, especially in my demographic of a college educated white female.
