Beep! beep! beep! Shouts my alarm clock insistently. A vision of my boss’s face appears before my sleepy eyes cheerily shouting ‘Good Morning it’s quarter to seven and time to go back to work!’
I have to be at work so early that I entrust getting the small child to nursery to the husband.
We have had several ‘settling in sessions’ at nursery where yes, the small child has survived nicely without me but I have been a wreck. To be without him at first felt like losing a limb and I wanted to run into the nursery and steal him back. Then I felt exhausted and went back to bed.
I actually make it to my desk in Birmingham by 8am. I expect some sort of fanfare to herald my arrival but it appears I am just a normal person after...
