We’ve got no song

a sad thing, really

our light was on

but no one came

and there was simply

nothing left to sing.

We carried on anyhow

did our best and

as it often is

it was not good enough

yet another contest

of will and fortune

fortune, or lackthereof

winning the bout again

complaints were thought

but seldom spoken

no sense putting

gripe to word,

a crime to waste

time best spent

wondering melodies

yet unheard
