I awaited the great sound for months on end

and it was going to be the sound I needed

it was going to set right the things that

needed setting right

and I waited and I waited and I waited

and the great sound came

and it was indeed great

and it has filled my life

with much joy,

but the rest was all the same,

no great change accompanied the great sound,

and I was still as prone to my ills

as I always have been,

and in fact had fallen victim again

to my own over-expectation

the yearning for things to change

just by wanting them

and as absurd as it may seem,

day in and day out this becomes

clearer to me, and even if the

universe does not bend to even...
