spare me

the contrived magic

and power of the word

likewise the pretense

and self-aggrandizing

tone, the congratulatory

airs of self diagnosed

superiority and import,

as if writing a poem

or being a poet were

any different or any

better than laying bricks

or digging ditches

and most people

can't do those well

either

so what gives?

Likewise,

I wish to be spared the

"Transmuting of the mundane"

every hair, scratch and wart

on your ass

can be made into a magnificent

ode to creation with

enough time and a

dictionary to hand

but it doesn't make
