It isn't obvious to me how

best to contend with it.

I have failed, as I suppose

everyone else has, does or will

there's no shame attached,

at least to this failing,

but it is interesting

sometimes instructive

to watch how others try

to come to terms with it

and I watch them clutch at it,

as if that were something you could even

do to it,

grasping at it, to give it a dimension

something familiar, perceivable;

a desultory means to a desultory end

I watch without judgment, perhaps a

little pity
