It was the change in lighting that awoke her. The morning had crept up on the little mountain village of Hogsback like a thief in the night. It had slipped over the mountains and down through the valleys, snaking its way towards them silently and unsuspectingly. Amanda found herself lying on the bed on top of the blankets, still wearing her clothes from the night before, just her shoes kicked off at some point. She couldn’t believe she had passed out so quickly, as sleep had been the furthest thing from her mind when she came to lie down on the bed.
