For a moment Jayne thought Lucy had shot Rory in her defence. That hope vanished when Lucy pointed the gun towards Jayne.
"Your turn next," Lucy said in her sweet, slightly high voice.
Her tone chilled Jayne far more than if she had shouted or snarled.
"What's going on? What have you done to Rory? We need to get him help!" Jayne said.
"I should say he's beyond that."
Am I hallucinating? thought Jayne. The morning sun was now shining bright across the ruins, the brilliant, unearthly light of daybreak. Lucy's shadow stretched across from her, long and thin.
