There was wonderful news the next day: Cade had finally come round. He had opened his eyes, spoken, and even managed some hospital tea. He had no memory of the accident according to his mother, and had been unable to help the police.
Jayne rushed over around the middle of the morning, to find Margaret Cade holding her son's hand and talking happily with him. Jayne had brought the latest edition of The Stage as well as a huge bunch of grapes.
He was still very pale and weak, but everything was getting back to normal.
Cade sent his mother off to get him a coffee so he could speak alone with Jayne.
