Lucas had asked to meet her for lunch while she was still in London. Jayne assumed it was to discuss details of her return trip to Greece, so she was rather disconcerted when his fiancée Victoria and Caroline's brother Harry joined them as well.

She had been right about Victoria too, she thought, as she observed the other woman's behaviour throughout the meal. Despite her engagement she seemed to be making a play for Harry. Rather crudely too, though Harry seemed oblivious. She also exhibited oddly competitive behaviour towards Jayne. Victoria’s strategy involved ignoring her as far as possible, making slights and digs where she could, and showing exaggerated interest and approval in anything Harry said or did.
