Felix stood over me for what felt like hours, although reality would probably tell me it was only a handful of seconds. My desperation to cling to my senses was fleeting by the moment. Each concentrated breath was less stable than the one before it, each exhale leaving me to struggle past the convulsions of my chest and the tightening of my throat.
