"We need to get you out of here," the note said.

"Why?" Isabel demanded, wanting to back away from the paper but unable to will her feet into motion.

"I overheard Emory in the hall after he left. They think you might be possessed."

"Clearly I am!"

"Not exactly. Either way, we're both in trouble if they come back."

"But you made the map, correct?"

The paper did not have any words appear on it.

"It was your handwriting, wasn't it? You set this all into motion, didn't you?"

After a few moments the note said, "I can't just quit this job. If I took an active attempt to separate us, the people who set this up would know I was trying to betray them."
