broken ladders, bouncing dimes

some climb up on that top step

to gain a clearer vision 

of what lies ahead.

others reach the top

to watch the faces

fascinated as they take the plunge.

other make their way

only to hang by severing ropes

in hopes to get the attention

they deserved but never received.

the dream the scars induced will remind

their exhausted minds of what they lost

and slide them the bill of cost

never estimating the diagnosis

never examing the cause.
