We were fearfully and wonderfully made,
built to endure endless onrushing of strife.
But some of us shed from our durable exteriors
and trade them in for new ones,
shiny and smooth material so malleable
that they can contort themselves into any form imaginable.
Those who were once dust clad pillars of bones
now resemble the anatomy of ghosts.
These generic versions of their former selves walk among the living,
hoping no one will focus too closely on their airbrushed smiles....
