Bouquets for the understated,

the ignored,

or perhaps the ones who wish

to blend

into the walls, painted

mushroom-beige.

Winter white, with tips

amber gold, although faded

petals wrung out

of color,

hues hushed

by bitter chill.

Rosy cheeks, not quite pink,

paused too soon.

Nightfall stole

Sun’s treasures

not yet

distinct,

although in bloom

without regard

to vibrancy—

Perchance Nature’s way

of saying,

“I see you.”
