The lavender lights of twilight
tug,
pull my gaze from the busywork
in my lap,
filling my mind with information
I’m sure I need
if only the universe
agreed.
Instead it taps my shoulder,
blows
a knowing breeze across my face.
My ears tingle,
yearning for more, feet longing
to move,
to walk on the tips
of my toes.
If I could stay in the present,
here,
hands stretched out
to grasp
and gather the art of peace,
only found
in the amaranthine
folded twilight… but my cellphone summons.
