determined in the night.

Neon markers; a beacon
atop stained woodgrain,

creates
colorful hieroglyphics

to memory—
to serve

an over-filled mind,
to stretch

synaptic connections, amber yellow—

though dim lamp-light
carves adequate space

in the shadows,
weary eyes need only low

illumination to focus
on blurry text type.

When man has created
highlighters—

the road to knowledge
is ablaze.
