Forest, golden brown,

rich in secrets,

for the quiet.

The still who stay

a short while

to view

are blessed

with her gifts.

For she welcomes

company who sees

with heart eyes

and hush lips.

Those who honor

her beauty

in browns so rich

they run deeper

than a river - blue,

wider than the open skies.

Russet and velvety,

chestnut, mahogany,

browns in faces

from history’s past,

shining under layers

forgotten,

ignored, or worse,

in hopes

they disappear…

But the forest,

golden brown,

remembers
