“And?”

“Oh, I will call and let you know that we are all safe.”

“Good”, he tussled my hair like he used to do when I was a kid.

“Hey kid, drive carefully.  The trunk is full of Cuban rum, contraband Cuban rum. We wouldn't want to give the staties an early Christmas present now would we?”  Uncle Louie gave me the thumbs up and jumped into Betty.

That was a couple of hours ago.  The weather had turned crappy once we were out of the valley and cruising along through the Poconos was going slower than I thought.  I pulled into the gas station in Effort.
