She read it silently. She had to read it two or three times before she could take it in. “So it’s because you fought as a soldier on the front that they don’t expect you to leave the school? But so did Ernst.”
“Yes, but read the paragraph underneath.”
Clara read the paragraph again. “Does that mean they won’t pay you as a teacher but if you can run the class as a business and the parents pay you enough they’re willing for you to carry on?”
“I think perhaps they’re rather hoping I will fail.”
