CHAPTER TEN

EXODUS

Scales wasn’t dead.  Thank the God Pantagoria.  At least… not yet. 

But he was deathly afraid at the moment.  And cold.  And hungry.  And desperately lost amidst the white, powdery salt fields of the mining country. 

And also, completely unaware that he was about to become a larger creature’s dinner.

He huddled down behind a petrified tree, which rose like a chalky-white skeleton on the edge of an abandoned salt mine.  The sky seemed to press down on him like a blanket of ash.  And the magic-pollution left behind by wizard wars floated in the air around him on silver dust...
