“NO!” Fenn was running along the sandy cliff. He was running as fast as his legs would carry him. He was running after the knight because that was all he could think of doing. He scooped up another rock and hurled it.
The stone missed the knight’s mount by a whisper, bouncing off into the dust. The knight glanced over his shoulder for a brief instant, as though the kid was just a minor irritation – a fly to be swatted away.
