Dear M,

I have heard little from you these past weeks, but I once again have a question that I hope you can answer for me.

How are things at home? Are there many fires in the fields this year already? The camp has settled under a thick haze that smells of smoke. I thought that with the elevation of most of the camp, that the smoke from the fields would not rise to this point. But the groundskeeper tells us that there is no fire on camp grounds, and that this must be nothing more than a slow and lazy wind that cannot shift away the smoke and haze from the valley.

It does seem as though it would be too soon for the fires in the fields. I hope that the cause is not something unplanned. Or, better yet, I...
