Dear M,

By now you will have received two letters from me--one normal letter, and one filled with anger. My anger has abated now. B had an accident while horseback riding, and she is to leave camp. I believe He did set things right, though it shames me to say so, as I feel that it cannot be any other than my own fault.

But for now, that is not the matter that absorbs my attention. After B’s injury, one of the counselors came to pack up her belongings. When A heard that a counselor was on her way, she moved her bed back to her side of the cabin. It seems that she feels a deep and abiding guilt for having slept beside me. I cannot understand this.
