Lest you fret too much, I open this letter by saying that you should not worry about the strange feelings I spoke of in my last letter. Already, I feel as though they have been brought on by homesickness, and nothing more. How it is that I can both love to be here and long to be home, I do not understand, but that is the truth of the situation. I remind myself that eight weeks is not all that long, in the grand scheme of things, and that to spend eight weeks away and the other forty-four at home is a good balance.
