Delia turned away from the vision and sobbed into her elbow, drenching her sleeve. She hadn’t been back in that place in such a long time, she had nearly forgotten the capacity she had to feel despair. When she looked up again, she saw herself waking up from an overdose of pain killers. She had been in her first year of college, still miserable, still in the darkest of places.
