Wine. That was what Delia needed. At five o’clock in the afternoon? Wasn’t it a bit early? On the one hand, she was on vacation. On the other, her day had started fairly late, so she made some coffee instead. Eager to take advantage of the last hour of sunlight, Delia took her coffee mug and headed straight for the patio. Unlike the ones she was used to, the patios connected to the cabins were wide open and led straight to the beach, which was less than a thirty second walk. She removed the stick holding the patio doors shut, opened both the glass and screen doors and walked to the beach, watching each step to avoid spilling the scalding coffee on herself. Delia sat under the grey skies, on a log that had made its home on the beach, clutching the porcelain cup for warmth, sipping slowly.
