Once the other side of the road opened up, the car behind her bypassed her and sped off into the distance. Breathing yet another sigh of relief, she carried on slowly until she passed the police station and realized she was within a few hundred yards of the resort. She kept her speed low, remembering how he had gotten a ticket for going too fast the last time they had been here. Another shrug; another memory cast aside. She made the left turn into the resort and parked. She let out a high-pitched squeal; the first leg of her journey was finally over. She would open up a bottle of wine to celebrate as soon as she was in the room.

She walked into the resort office and stood in line. Two couples stood in front of her, chatting with the clerk.

“So, we can camp anywhere?”
