grew up in a very different place than this. His house still stood at the end of a cul-de-sac and in it, his mother and father still lived. Like most of the houses in his neighborhood, it was a single story home. It had a two-car garage and a large front yard, at the center of which stood a lemon tree.

His entire life had been spent there with mother Cecilia, father Efren, and his sister, Jeanine. It was the kind of neighborhood where Halloweens were safe for trick-or-treating and during the holidays neighbors would exchange baked goods.
