“Run! Run!”
Screams of panic echoed. More than twenty people were swarming away from the Bludhaven club. However, it wasn’t that club which caused the suddenly erupted riot.
It was the man who fell with blood all over him, and a knife stuck in his gut.
Doddy ran toward the wounded man whom he was supposed to pick up, and lifted his head. “Andy!” he yelled, his hands pressing the gaping hole in Andy’s stomach. “Andy, hang on!”
“Go…” Andy whispered. “Cops…”
“Don’t waste your breath, man. Stay still, and uh, you’re not gonna like this, but...” Doddy stopped there, looked around, and suddenly…. “Help! Call an ambulance!”
“I’ve got it covered, Dod,” Rio, the club bouncer told him. “Just keep pressing his wound.”
“Thanks, man,” Doddy said gratefully, and shifted his eyes to Andy again. “Take it easy, Boss. Help’s on the way.”
“Dod, this is an order…damn it… Get the hell out of here.” Andy gritted his teeth, sweat flooding his sharply handsome face. “Tell…Danny…call…Ray…”
“Ray?” Doddy asked with a frown and disbelief. “Why should we call him—Boss!” Doddy shouted when Andy tried to open his mouth, but suddenly went limp.
“Andy, wake up!” Doddy rocked Andy’s body, but the sirens of ambulance and police convoy distracted him.
“Dod, get out of here! I’ll take care of Andy!” Rio urged Doddy to leave as he knelt next to Andy, and placed his hands over the wound.
Doddy turned his gaze to the bouncer who was a long-time friend of his. “Take care of him. Thanks a lot, Rio.”
“Just get the hell out of here!” Rio retorted.
Nodding, Doddy stood up, and ran as he pulled out a small remote from his pants pocket. He raised it to the direction where his car was parked. The car automatically roared to life, moved backward out of the lot, and made a turn before it stopped. Doddy opened the door, climbed up, and drove off in time before the police reached the area.
Doddy kept his speed just a bit under the limit. He couldn’t take the risk getting caught by the traffic cameras that spread all over the Capital now. Not after what had just happened. Soft curses rolling off his tongue, Doddy turned on the TV in his car, wanting to know whether the incident had reached the news. Instead of Andy, the news Doddy found was regarding the small war between his own gang and their archenemy. “The clash between Sky Claw and Dragon has erupted yet again. The two gangs have been at war…”
Barely hearing what the newscaster was saying, Doddy averted his attention back on the road. “Phone,” Doddy said clearly to the voice recognition system in the car. “Angga.” Two tones sounded as he drove with constant speed. “Hello?”
“Angga, it’s Doddy. Something’s happened,” Doddy said with labored breath. “Get Danny.”
“Danny’s in a meeting. What is it?”
“It’s Andy, man. He’s been stabbed.”
“What?” Angga exclaimed. “By who, Erdi’s thugs?”
“I don’t know, but I’d bet Andy’s pissed off face on it,” Doddy interjected, his words were replied with nervous scoff by Angga. “Look, I’m heading back as fast as I can. There are eyes everywhere, so I’m putting back the car first. They all probably tagged me leaving the place after Andy was down. Hell, it probably tagged me leaving with Andy’s blood all over me.”
“Understood. I’ll tell Danny. You get back here, be careful.”
“Thanks.” He ended the call, and kept on driving until he reached a building just one block before the last traffic camera, and went inside. The building was one of few safe places that belonged to his group. With cameras all over town, it was increasingly difficult for them to move around without being tagged and they certainly didn’t want getting tagged as the ones who headed in or out of the Territories.
He cut the engine, jumped out of the car, and locked it. A guy stood at the sight of him. “Hey, Dod, what’s—” he stopped when he saw the blood glimpsed from under Doddy’s jacket.
“It’s Andy’s. There’s no time, I got to go.”
“Understood.” The guy tossed a key, and led Doddy to a row of bikes parked not far from there. “Careful.”
“Thanks.” He immediately gunned the engine, and headed to the back door where it was secure from cameras. He drove straight to Territory A, one of the areas that were unofficially labeled as ‘Untouchable’. These were places that the known criminals called home.
He arrived moments later, and jumped down, hand pressing a button on the bike remote. He then ran as fast as his legs could carry him, ignoring his friends calling out his name. Doddy and went passed him as the bike drove away and parked itself. He ran straight through the seemingly unmaintained building complex which was the base of Sky Claw. His eyes caught two guards, and he came to them. “Where’s Danny?”
“He’s at base, strategy meeting,” one of them answered, they both had their eyes fixed on the blood all over Doddy’s clothes.
The other guard pointed at the blood. “What the hell happened to you? Whose blood is this?”
Instead of answering, Doddy dashed toward another building past the guards. He saw two more guards at the door, and they opened the door. “He’s been waiting for you.”
Doddy stormed into the room, making everyone inside turned to him. “Danny!”
Danny, who was standing at the head of the conference table, stared at him and the blood on his clothes. Bad feeling crept in Danny’s back, but before he could say anything, another one of his man whose job was to keep tracks of information distracted him. “Danny!”
“What is it?” Danny asked, coming to the computer terminal at the corner of the room where Angga, the tech, was stationed.
“It's Andy,” Angga said with helpless tone.
Doddy walked toward Danny, Angga and the captains, and saw the news in which he nearly made the headline. “We have just received a shocking report. In the middle of the street war that has been raging since this afternoon, a separate incident occurred just outside of a known club in Jakarta. The victim is Andrew Jatmiko."
