‘Surely she would be in the procession?’

‘Don’t be so sure, Coelestinus. What does she have to gain from Germanus’s coronation, especially when he is taking Sevira as his Queen?’

‘Did Aureliana expect to be crowned Imperatrix?’

‘No Segovax, not at all! But then she had no idea that Germanus was going to take the purple for himself. The Queen of the West Britons has no interest in Rome; her vision is of an independent Prythain, going back to the old ways, before this country even traded with Roma.
