Elafius had always been afraid of the dark, but now was not the time to tell anyone. Certainly, there was no way that he would ever let Germanus know that of his phobia. He greatly respected the man (even though the new Archbishop of Britannia had said he did not follow the Lord Jesus Christ) and hoped that there would be an opportunity to bring more to the one true faith in the light of the Vortigern’s defeat.
