Chapter 21

With no instruments of magic at their disposal, Ruggum and Gilin used the age-old implements of flint and steel from the overseer’s pack to start their fire. Though smaller than that of Speckarin’s party, it was enough to warm them through the rest of the day and the night, and dry their clothing. When they awoke the next morning, the weather had cleared. They extinguished the fire and prepared for departure.

    Their plan was to return to the site where Ruggum had observed Gilin separate from the others, a moderate flight to the west.
