At the height of the thunder and lightning storm, Gilin had fought desperately to maintain contact with the lead ilon, but found it increasingly difficult. Through the frightful conditions, he continually urged Loana forward with curlace words. “Onward! We must stay with the others. On, Loana! Your name is ‘timeless fortitude’ in the old tongue. You are the strong one, the courageous one.”

    Drenched and exhausted, he saw Speckarin taking the lead and remained in formation through their descent, the flight above marshland, and the climb with the magician in front.
