Just then Hut and his red-haired friend clambered up the last few steps and stopped in the entrance, Speckarin frowning at them.

    “You don’t belong here,” he said. “The queen and I are discussing business. Please be so kind as to leave.”

    “We’re here to discuss it, too,” said Hut.

    “Discuss what?” asked the magician.

    “The quest,” said Hut.

    “You’ve discussed that quite enough,” said Speckarin.

    “Wait,” said Lanara, gazing at Hut. “Come in. What about the quest?”

    “Nothing of importance,” said Speckarin.
