The loud noise frightened Gilin, still outside, and for the first time during the encounter he balked. Looking up at the immense, mysterious, alien structure built by humans, it dawned on him what they were getting into. Loana was inside with a human, one of the very ones who had attacked her.

    Circling overhead, Ruggum knew generally where Gilin was because the human lads stared at him constantly, and the elder sensed what was happening. He too was loath to enter a space like this, to a greater degree than Gilin. But their only hope for Loana was to be inside with the humans. Forcing fear and disgust from his mind, he flew down and landed.

    “Gilin, lad, where are you?” he asked from Alsinam’s back in the home diale...
