After entering, Diliani turned to see the gap behind them closing.

    “We must go forward,” she said, and they did cautiously, able to see nothing. Issar’s voice pierced the darkness, instructing them to follow, explaining they were in a tunnel, that it would soon narrow, and that it would take a while to reach their destination.

    The ravens required constant encouragement to make any forward progress. To an ilon, its master’s voice is of utmost importance, a source of support, pleasure, and direction.
